Saturday, February 20, 9am – 10am: FREE YOGA

Jola ‘Shakti’ has been practicing Hatha Yoga for over 15 years and studied Iyengar Yoga in Poland and Integral Yoga in Virginia. She is a certified Integral Hatha Yoga teacher and a registered yoga teacher with Yoga Alliance. She specializes in therapeutic and restorative practice. The intention in instructing Yoga is to help each individual to find peace and well-being. Jola will be instructing gentle yoga for all ages.  Weekly at 9am on Saturdays from February 20 to March 6.

Sunday, February 21, Noon – 4pm: SEWING REBELLION

Brunchluck & skill sharing DIY gathering. Take up arms (and fingers) against consumerist imperialism and fashionista culture! Remake something from your closet or from our FREE BOX. Learn or share sewing, knitting & fiber crafting skills.

Tuesday, February 23, 7pm: NEXT OBJECTIVISTS

The Next Objectivists is the world’s only autonomous writing & reading workshop dedicated to research into & reproduction of the poetry & poetic techniques associated with the OUTSIDEREAL. We study a wide variety of radical poetics, from Objectivism to Black Mountain, from Dada to Language Poetry, from Gaucho to Negritude. Upcoming workshops will focus on ekphrasis & the work of Jose Hernandez, Basil Bunting, Tom Raworth, Rae Armantrout, Edward Sanders & many others. JOIN US! All events are free! No prior knowledge of poetry required! Every 2 weeks at 7pm on Tuesdays from February 23 to May 4.

On Saturday afternoon, Michelle Taransky will read from her new collection and discuss the objectivist tendencies in writing practices.

The Next Objectivists is the world’s only literary workshop entirely dedicated to the study and practice of objectivist poetry. We are a free school of poets and critics pursuing the techniques of writing poetry from outside the self. Our program of study is largely organized by the participants, so come join us!

The Next Objectivists Poetry from the Outside Workshop is pleased to present Michelle Taransky

Michelle was born in Camden, NJ. Her first book, “Barn Burned, Then,” was selected by Marjorie Welish for the 2008 Omnidawn Poetry Prize. She lives in Philadelphia and works at Kelly Writers House.

Michelle will lead a poetry reading and writing workshop entitled “Thinking with the Things at they Exist.”
